The Delaware River stretches from New York all the way to Delaware and has access points in New Jersey and Pennsylvania as well. Types of fish

Bass, muskellunge, walleye, and eels are also popular catches in these waters. Eels are the most difficult species to catch, but catching them at night is slightly more easy than catching them during the day. Many of the fish in the Delaware River use the river as a spawning ground and swim upstream from the Atlantic Ocean. It is common to see high numbers of fish, especially shad, during the spawning season. This makes it a prime time to catch a variety of fish, but seasoned anglers know to throw any pregnant fish back into the water. This is an excellent fishing practice that contributes to the growth of the species and results in more fishing opportunities.
